The Henderson County Partnership for Economic Development announced that the crew and production team for Dirty Dancing’s set production, filming, transportation, props, and wardrobe will be headquartered in Hendersonville, North Carolina. The new adaptation of the 1987 classic will be a three-hour television movie special which will be aired on ABC.
Filming will take place in April and May in several locations in western North Carolina and is expected to air some time in the fall. The new Dirty Dancing will star Debra Messing, Abigail Breslin, Sarah Hyland, Billy Dee Williams, and Beau ‘Casper’ Smart.
According to Adam Shealy, Chair of the Henderson County Partnership for Economic Development’s Board and a Hendersonville attorney with the Van Winkle Law Firm, the production is expected to generate 1,125 jobs including 225 crew positions, 900 extras, and 30 cast members. Restaurants, construction materials businesses, and hotels and other accommodation providers are expected to see economic impact. Crew and cast members will be visible in the community.
